The first 90 days is undoubtedly the most critical period in the working relationship of a new hire. How many of you still remember the first day at your job? The first hand shakes, the first coffee, the first look at your desk?

This often reminds us of feelings of apprehension, excitement and even fear. Many of us take a new role because is either at the frontiers of our comfort zone or sometime beyond our comfort zone. No one moves within their comfort zone and considers this as growth !! why would they?

Sir Richard Branson once said: if someone offers you an opportunity, say YES, take it and then figure out later on how to manage it.

What Sir Richard did not say was the feelings of fear, apprehension and excitement that comes with this. Well that’s the first few days and then it subsides. The part where you need to figure out how to manage it happens in the first 90 days!!

The first 90 days of a role is the most critical period of the working relationship. It is often referred to as the honeymoon period. You as the new employee is assessing whether you can survive/thrive in your new environment and the employer is assessing whether they made the right recruitment decision or not.

After the first days’ feelings of aspirations, excitement and fear subside, you will get head down, bum up into induction and onboarding. There are various ways of doing this ranging from informal to formal filling out of forms and signature of agreement.

At Maxstaff.co, we use an online tool emanating from the employee operation system (EOS) for this. The online tool is called nintety.io and comes included as part of the platinum package.

With ninety.io, you, as the new Maxstaff.co employee will be added to our team. Day 1, Day 7, Day 15, Day 30, Day 60 and Day 90 objectives will be highlighted as agreed with your team leader on the client side. SMART Goals will be documented in collaboration with you and the team leader and measured. Weekly meetings will be conducted with you by Maxstaff.co to gauge on your progress and happiness in your new role.

Once we have navigated the first 90 days with you and the client, we will mostly handover the day to day management to the client. We will be conducting bi – annually performance appraisals with you and report to the client.
